Prof. Rae Langton was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Klagenfurt, Austria, on 21st January 2020. This is in recognition of her work on the life and philosophical letters of Maria von Herbert, a young Austrian woman who lived in Klagenfurt from 1770-1803, and corresponded with Immanuel Kant. For more about von Herbert's fascinating and tragic story see e.g. ‘Duty and Desolation’ (1992) https://cambridge.academia.edu/RaeLangton
