Members of the Faculty pursue research in most central areas of philosophy.

The Faculty has particular strengths in metaphysics, logic and language, philosophy of mind, ethics, philosophy of mathematics, philosophy of science, political philosophy and Kant.

Members of the Faculty are involved in a number of research groups and projects, and in national and international networks

The Faculty has its own informal collaboration with the departments of philosophy at MIT and Harvard, known as ‘Cambridge2’. 

The School of Arts & Humanities does not have its own Research Ethics committee, but the School Office keeps a record of the approval requested, and passes it on to the relevant Research Ethics Committee in another School. Please contact Jo Farmer (Faculty Administrator) about any queries relating to ethical approval.
