Philosophy Green Team

The Philosophy Green Team

The Philosophy Faculty is committed to reducing its environmental impact. We have a Green Team who are working hard to raise awareness of environmental issues, and we hope that everyone in the Faculty will join us to do their bit to help make a real improvement to our sustainability. To learn more about what the University as a whole is doing to improve sustainability, please see the Environment and Energy webpages.

The Philosophy Faculty gained a bronze NUS Green Impact award for 2015-16, a silver award in 2016-17 and we are now excited to be working towards a gold award in 2018-19.

The Green Team have already held various events, and made various changes to make the Faculty a greener place. Examples include a FairTrade Coffee Morning, a clothes swap event, and spending an hour out on the Sidgwick site picking up dropped plastic waste. In the Faculty itself, we have switched to using recycled paper in all our printers, provided mugs in our coffee area instead of disposable cups, arranged for used Nespresso coffee pods to be collected and recycled, and introduced a book swap area, and stationery amnesty. We are always keen to do more though!

Keep an eye on our noticeboard in the main corridor for news, facts and figures.

The Green Team members are currently Clare Dickinson and Charlie Evans. You can contact us at phil-admin@cam.ac.uk. We are always interested to hear of any suggestions you have to help make the Faculty Greener.
