The Philosophy Green Team

Are environmental issues important to you?

Are you concerned about the environment and your impact on it?

Have you considered what you could do to help?

Here at the Faculty, our answer to all three questions is a resounding Yes!

That’s why we have signed up to Green Impact, the University’s environmental accreditation scheme, which supports and encourages departments and colleges across the University in reducing their environmental impacts. The scheme is great for those who want to make a difference but are perhaps not sure how to start, as well as providing recognition and support for those who are already working to improve the environmental performance of their place of work or study at the University.

In the past, the Faculty has achieved a bronze, silver and gold Green Impact award but, as an obvious result of the past couple of years, in 2022 we will have to start all over again! Not only is this a chance for us to re-focus and gain a new impetus, adding to those measures already in place (for example, using recycled paper in our printers, printing double-sided as standard, using mugs instead of disposable cups, various product recycling and book swap area) but it is also a chance for you – both students and staff - to support us too. If you have any ideas or suggestions, or would like to offer any help, we would love to hear from you. Pop into the Faculty Office (Room 313) or email us at philundergrad@phil.cam.ac.uk

Keep an eye out for our ‘Green Philosophy’ email newsletter that will have ideas, tips and information on all things green, as well as events for you to take part in. Also have a look at the Green noticeboard in the main corridor for news, facts and figures.
