Professor Ian Hacking, CC, FRSC, FBA (18 February 1936 – 10 May 2023)

Professor Ian Hacking, CC, FRSC, FBA (18 February 1936 – 10 May 2023).  The Faculty of Philosophy is saddened to hear of the death of Ian Hacking on 10 May.  Ian was an undergraduate and then a doctoral student (supervised  by Casimir Lewy) in the Faculty of Philosophy, thereafter a research fellow, between 1956 and 1964.  He was later a lecturer in the Faculty, from 1969 to 1974.  Ian spent much of the rest of his career in his native Canada at the University of Toronto:
