Guidelines for JointSessionspeakers at open sessions and SWIP

Time and location

The BSPS and Joint Session programmes are now online. Please check when and where you are speaking.

Timing

Each slot lasts 30 minutes: up to 20 minutes for a presentation, with 8 minutes for Q&As, and 2 minutes to handover to the next speaker.

It is essential to keep everything running bang-on schedule, not least because many delegates will want to move between sessions.

Chairs have been instructed to cut off questioners who are wasting time, and to cut off speakers who are running over.

Projectors

A digital projector and laptop will be available at your session. If you wish to make use of these, then you must bring your file (as a .pdf or powerpoint) on a USB stick, and arrive at your session at least 10 minutes before it commences. The chair of your session will then upload your file to the laptop.

Handouts

If you wish to use a handout, then you will have to bring sufficient copies, yourself, to your session. We cannot print handouts for you.

As a guide concerning how many handouts to produce: there are approximately 150 people at BSPS (with 5 simultaneous open sessions), and there are approximately 250 people at the Joint Session (with 10 simultaneous open sessions).
